What Factors leading to premature aging of rubber O-rings?

1.Ozone:  Because ozone can break the rubber molecular chain, the effect of ozone on rubber O-rings will vary depending on whether the O-rings are deformed. If the O-rings are denatured, then cracks will occur. Without deformation, an oxide film will be formed on the surface.    

2.Oxygen:  Oxygen will react free radicals with the rubber molecules in the rubber O-ring, thereby changing the properties of the rubber itself and causing the O-ring to age.    

3.heat:  Research found that under high temperature, rubber is prone to thermal cross-linking, but the effect of heat on rubber is basically activating, it will increase the diffusion rate of oxygen, thereby making the O-ring aging.     

4. Light:  For rubber O-rings, the effect of light on it is the length of light waves, especially the mid-ultraviolet rays of sunlight, which are very harmful to rubber. After rubber absorbs ultraviolet rays, the oxidation chain reaction accelerates. Causes cracks on the surface of the product.     

5. Moisture: If the rubber O-ring is immersed in water for a long time or is exposed to rain for a long time, it is easy to cause the water-soluble substances and hydrophilic groups in the home to be absorbed or hydrolyzed, resulting in the destruction of rubber performance.    

 In addition, chemical media, grease, radiation, mechanical stress, etc. will shorten the service life of rubber O-rings earlier.
