Rubber seal material requirements

Rubber seal material should meet the requirements of the sealing function. Due to the different media being sealed and the working conditions of the equipment being different, the sealing material is required to have different suitability. The requirements for sealing materials are:


1 The material is dense and it is not easy to leak the medium.


2 have the appropriate mechanical strength and hardness.


3 Compressibility and resilience are good, and permanent deformation is small.


4 does not soften at high temperatures, does not decompose, does not harden at low temperatures, is not brittle.


5 Good anti-corrosion performance, long-term work in acids, alkalis, oils and other mediums. Its volume-hardness change is small and does not adhere to the metal surface.


6 The friction coefficient is small and the wear resistance is good.


7 has all the flexibility with the sealing surface.


8 Good aging resistance and durability.


9 easy processing and manufacturing, cheap, easy to draw.


Obviously, it is impossible for any material to fully meet the above requirements, but materials with excellent sealing properties can meet most of the above requirements.

The performance of the sealing material is an important factor in ensuring effective sealing. The choice of sealing material is mainly based on the working environment of the sealing element, such as the operating temperature, working pressure, the working medium used, and the way of movement. The basic requirements for sealing materials are as follows:


1. Has certain mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, elongation and so on.


2. Suitable elasticity and hardness, small compression set.


3. High temperature and low temperature, no decomposition, softening at high temperatures, no hardening at low temperatures.


4. Adapt to the working medium, no swelling, decomposition, hardening, etc.


5. Oxygen resistance and aging resistance are good and durable.


6. Wear resistance, no corrosion of metal.


7. Easy to shape and process, low price.
